Reception at the palace of the government of the recently awarded with the intangible heritage of humanity
This past Wednesday, December 7, the President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, and the Minister of Culture, Natàlia Garriga, received a representation of the raier associations and municipalities at the Generalitat Palace and the manual ringing of bells, activities that have recently received the award of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
Representatives of the Noguera Pallaresa Association of Raiers, dressed in the traditional clothing of the raiers, have shared tribute with representatives of the Ribera del Segre Cultural Association of Raiers and the Brotherhood of Bell Ringers and Carillonists of Catalonia.
After the welcome and the explanation of the importance of the stamp received, by the Ministry of Culture, Mr. Àlex Ferré, president of the Alt Urgell raiers, Mr. Miquel Gordó, representing the poblatans raiers, and the Mr. Freixes representing the manual bell ringers.
Finally, the President of the Generalitat approached us, among the words of which we will highlight: “Today UNESCO does not recognize a beautiful tradition, it does not recognize an activity for its beauty, but rather recognizes the commitment and perseverance of people like you to keep these life forms alive. Because it keeps the intangible heritage alive are the people; it’s you.”
On behalf of the Government Team of this consistory, they have been accompanied by the mayors of La Pobla de Segur and Conca de Dalt, Messrs. Marc Baró and Martí Cardona, by the councilor for culture of this municipality, Ramon Enric Guimó and by the President of Honor of the International Raiers Association, Àngel Portet- Representatives of the Pallars Jussà Regional Council and the Alt Pirineu i Aran Government also attended.
